The returnees

When hotel employees come back

For hoteliers, finding staff is not always easy. There tends to be a lot of fluctuation, many young employees want to change companies frequently or change their lives flexibly according to their mood.

So when we have staff members who return to us after a “sabbatical”, we are always especially grateful and delighted.

Since it has been happening a lot lately, we wanted to make it public and dedicate this short article to you. And say “nice to have you with us again”.

Here are a few of our pearls and their short story ☺

Alexis

Why did you choose the National for your internship?
I wanted to work in a holiday destination because there you have more time to take care of the guests. Secondly, because Zermatt is one of the most successful and world-famous destinations in Switzerland.

Why did you return afterwards?
I came back because the family-like relationship between guests, staff and the owner family suits me very well. Thanks to the trust of my superiors, I can already develop well in my young career in a professional and personal way.

Where is your favourite place (in summer) in Zermatt??
On my balcony, because I have one of the most beautiful views of the Matterhorn.

Laurent

How long have you lived and worked in Zermatt?
I was asked by a cook from my village who had already been to Zermatt if I wouldn’t like to do a season here. Now I have been up here for 45 years.

What makes the National so special?
I can develop myself and have a very nice and relaxed interaction with the guests.

What is your favourite food?
As an Alsatian, I love tarte flambée

Klaudia

Where are you from and how did you get into the National?
I come from Thessaloniki and became aware of the Hotel National through Milto, the restaurant manager at the time, a friend of mine.

What do you particularly like about Zermatt?
Life is a very nice and safe life up here, I especially love the summer.

Where do you take your boy to play?
I often go with my son to the Schali Lago in Täsch, where I can relax and have a coffee and my son plays in the sand.
